Why Has My Diary View Changed After Upgrading to Premium?
If you’ve recently upgraded to Lifesum Premium and noticed that your Diary view looks different, don’t worry — nothing’s wrong! This change happens because Premium users are automatically opted into our new Multimodal Tracking experience.
What Is Multimodal Tracking?
Multimodal Tracking is an upgraded way to log your meals in Lifesum, designed to make food tracking faster, more flexible, and more intuitive.
With this feature, your Diary view will change slightly:
- You’ll no longer see the Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, and Dinner sections displayed right away.
- You’ll also notice that you can’t search the old food database directly anymore.
How to Add Food in the New Diary View
To add food to your Diary, tap the “+” icon in the bottom center of the app. You’ll then see several options for how to track your meals:
- Text – Chat with our food-tracking AI to add what you’ve eaten simply by typing it.
- Barcode – Scan the barcode of a product to quickly add it to your Diary.
- Quick Track – Choose from:** **
- Recents: See meals and foods you’ve recently tracked — perfect for adding yesterday’s lunch again today**. **
- Favorites: Access your saved meals, food items, and recipes (found under Progress → Favorites).
- Quick Track: Manually enter calories and macros (Carbs, Protein, Fat) if you already know the details.
- Image – Snap a photo of your meal to log it automatically.
- Voice – Simply speak to log your food; what you say will be converted into text just like the Text option.
How Lifesum Organizes Your Meals
When you add food using any of the options above, Lifesum will automatically estimate which meal it belongs to — Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, or Dinner — based on the time of day and the type of food.
If you want to move an item to a different meal, just tap on it in your Diary and change the category (for example, from Lunch to Dinner).
Prefer the Classic Tracking View?
If you’d like to return to the Classic Diary view — with separate Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, and Dinner sections, and access to the old database — you can easily switch back.
To deactivate Multimodal Tracking:
- Scroll to the bottom of your Diary view.
- Tap “Customize Diary.”
- Toggle off Multimodal Tracking.
You can switch it back on at any time if you’d like to try Multimodal Tracking again.
Alternatively, you can manage this setting by going to:
Profile → Settings → Diary Settings.
